Atletico Kolkata led by the Spanish Molina, crowned champions of the Indian Super League
Atletico Madrid’s franchise Atletico Kolkata team, led by José Francisco Molina, was proclaimed for the second time champion of the Indian Super League, defeating Kerala Blasters in the penalty shootout (4-3) after finishing the match with a draw. Mohammed Rafi scored for the local team at 37th minutes but before the break the Portuguese defender Henrique Sereno put the tie on the score. The match, played at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium in Kochi (54,146 att) , didn’t suffer more variations and came the penalty shootout.
The Spaniards Borja Fernandez, the captain of Kolkata, and Javi Lara, who came from the bench in the 68th minute, scored their penalties, in which Atletico won 4-3 despite failing their first penalty and were crowned champion at the same opponent that in 2014. Jewel Raja had the honor to score the last shot.
